The Gantz Zahler Seminars on Child Welfare

 
The Gantz Zahler Seminars on Child Welfare are supported by Eric Zahler and Karen Gantz Zahler, a member of the Myers-JDC-Brookdale Committee, New York, and her parents Manny Gantz (dec.) and Pat Gantz, an honorary member of the JDC Board, New York.
 
The goals of the seminar are to:
  • Promote the discussion of major issues and trends facing the child welfare system.
  • Disseminate and promote the impact of Institute studies on major issues facing the child welfare system.
  • Bring together professionals from different disciplines for shared learning.
  • Present successful intervention models and approaches from the field, and to discuss challenges and directions for the future.

The Fund supported the following national seminars :

 

  • Older Children Who Have Been Adopted (2002)
  • Promoting the Involvement of Parents in the Service System (2003)
  • How Does Society Support Families of Children in Early Childhood? (2005)
  • Transition to Adulthood and Independence for Youth and Young Adults at Risk Aged 16-25 (2006)
  • Children's Participation in Decisions About Their Lives (2009)
  • Developments in Adoption: Adoption by Foster Families and Open Adoption (2012)
  • Culturally-Adapted Strategies for Work with the Arab Population (2015)
