In January 2010, the Institute conducted a seminar on immigrant youth, in cooperation with the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption, and with the support of the Harry Weinrebe Fund for the Advancement of Children. At the seminar, Institute researchers presented research findings from the national study on this group. The study provides, for the first time, a comprehensive review of immigrant youth, and focuses on their integration into Israeli society in areas such as education, social integration, relationships with parents, and risk behaviors.
The seminar provided a valuable opportunity for a professional meeting of researchers, staff at the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption and other government ministries, and service providers at the national and local levels. The seminar also allowed participants to hear directly from immigrant youth themselves how they perceive their integration in Israel.
