As part of its commitment to young researchers, the Institute offers promising research staff the opportunity to pursue their doctoral studies while continuing to work at MJB. Institute Board members Marshall Weinberg and Mandell "Bill" Berman both support this Doctoral Fellows Program.
In 2015, two fellows received their doctorates:
Abraham Wolde Tsadick (Weinberg Fellow, Center for Research on Employment of Disadvantaged Populations): “Transition to Employment and Higher Education of Young Israeli Adults– A Structural Model”
Shirli Reznisky (Berman Fellow, Center for Research on Aging): “The Final Illness: Decision-making in the Family Unit.” Shirli was awarded the Prof. Gilbert Ora Prize for Outstanding Doctorate from the University of Haifa's Faculty of Humanities for her research.
Current doctoral fellows are:
Yitzchak Schnoor (Center for Research on Aging): “Well-being of Aging Israel Defense Force Veterans with Disabilities”
Dafna Haran (Center for Research on Disabilities): “The Link between Continuity of Care and Service Utilization by Persons with Severe Mental Illness: Possible Implications of the Mental Health Insurance Reform".
