Integrating Young Adults with Disabilities into Society

JDC-Israel Unlimited is undertaking an effort to integrate young people with disabilities into Centers for Young Adults, run by local municipalities. The program is currently in eight centers in the periphery of Israel.

MJB is evaluating three of the original Centers that had implemented the pilot from the beginning.   The evaluation includes interviews with staff and participants (both those with and without disabilities).

The evaluation will provide will provide important information regarding expansion of the program.

The objectives of the evaluation are to:

  • examine the implementation of the program
  • identify issues in the implementation of the program which should be addressed with its expansion
  • gain an impression of the contribution of the program in a number of key dimensions, such as integrating young people with disabilities into the activities of the young adults center (education, social involvement, culture and leisure), and changing attitudes toward people with disabilities.

The research project began in the summer of 2017, and will run through Spring 2018.
