The Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute’s Unit for Learning from Success and Ongoing Learning in Human Resource Organizations offers programs to promote action-oriented learning processes based on Learning from Success. The work is facilitated by specially trained Learning Companions who work within organizations to promote organizational learning.
The goal is to help an organization’s ongoing learning by reflecting on – and learning from – successful practices, rather than emphasizing past failures.
This new handbook introduces the methods of Learning from Success and ongoing learning to help Learning Companions approach organizations that are interested in applying these processes in their own organizations.
Building on the cumulative experience of Learning Companions from over a decade of work in many organizations, the handbook presents the key steps to introducing the process of Learning from Success:
-
How to establish initial contact with an organization interested in the process, presenting the methods of learning, preparing for the introductory meeting.
-
How to apply the 10 phases of an introductory group meeting with a learning group
-
How to plan further contact for charting future processes of learning.
The handbook explains key terms that underlie the concept and practice of learning from success and ongoing learning, and provides examples to help the learning process. A bibliography offers readers resources to further explore the topics addressed in the handbook.
The handbook is another important addition to the Institute’s series of publications that promote the innovative method of Learning from Success. It will appeal to organizations striving to apply methods of continuous improvement within their workforce.
This publication was made possible through the assistance of the Marshall Weinberg Fund for Professional Collaboration and Development.
