Research associate, Children’s Team, Family Group, the Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute (MJB), Israel’s leading center for applied social research.

Anat Gilad has worked at MJB since 2018. Her primary research areas are: online bullying and healthy behavior, foster care for children with disabilities, and care of families coping with a mental disorder.

Anat holds a BA in psychology and education and an MA in educational guidance, both from the University of Haifa.

The goals of the study were: To present an up-to-date picture of the phenomenon of school dropout in the Bedouin population in the Negev and its scope; To examine the needs, barriers, and challenges in coping with the phenomenon of school dropout, as perceived by officials, key entities, and leading professionals from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs, and the Bedouin local authorities in the Negev who deal with the issue of school dropout; To develop strategies to deal with the phenomenon of school dropout in the Bedouin population in the Negev.

This study was initiated by the research team at the Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute. Its goal was to provide the decision makers with an updated picture of the status of young adults in Israel (aged 18 to 44) in the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, classified according to three key topics: health status and mental state; employment and economic status; and trust in the government agencies.
