חוקרת עמיתה בצוות זיקנה, חטיבת המשפחה, מכון מאיירס-ג'וינט-ברוקדייל, המכון למחקר חברתי יישומי המוביל בישראל.
אילא קרמל שיפמן עובדת במכון משנת 2019. תחומי המחקר העיקריים שלה הם תכנון טיפול מוקדם (advance care planning), אוטונומיה של זקנים, התמודדות עם דמנציה וכן בני משפחה מטפלים. בעקבות עבודתה כמרכזת מחקרים באוניברסיטת חיפה יש לאילא ניסיון רב בביצוע מחקר כמותי, על כל שלביו.
לאילא תואר ראשון בסוציולוגיה וחינוך מהאוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים ותואר שני בגרונטולוגיה מאוניברסיטת חיפה וכן דוקטורט העוסק בתחום הזיקנה מאוניברסיטת חיפה.
