The 2025 Young Adults in Israel Statistical Abstract is published for the second time as part of a biennial publication series produced by the Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute in collaboration with the Israeli government’s Youth Authority in the Ministry of the Negev, Galilee and National Resilience. The Abstract presents up-to-date data and key trends on the characteristics and life domains of young adults in Israel, a population that numbered 2.31 million individuals at the end of 2024. The Abstract provides a broad and in-depth overview of young adults’ social, economic, and demographic circumstances.
The Young Adults in Israel Abstract serves as a key knowledge resource for informed planning, evidence-based policymaking, and the development of effective and context-sensitive responses to a changing reality. It contributes to the establishment of a national knowledge infrastructure that supports policymakers, service developers, practitioners, and researchers in advancing the well-being of young women and men in Israel.
The Abstract presents the most up-to-date data available, alongside data on selected previous years, in order to examine the current situation and identify trends over time. It consists of five permanent chapters: Chapter One presents the demographic characteristics of the young adult population; Chapter Two addresses young adults’ human capital and includes data on education, employment, military and civilian-national service, skills, and the rate of NEET young adults (“not in employment, education or training”); Chapter Three presents data on health and welfare as well as on the standard of living of young adults and their quality of life; Chapter Four presents data on young adults’ involvement with the law; and Chapter Five discusses issues of personal and social well-being and provides data on social and political involvement and on how young adults view state institutions.
In addition to the permanent chapters, the 2025 Young Adults in Israel Statistical Abstract also features a supplementary chapter dedicated to the Israel-Hamas War, presenting data across a range of life domains on the impact of the war on young adults in Israel.
The Abstract is based on data from population estimates; the Israel CBS statistical abstract; regular CBS surveys including personnel surveys, household expenditure surveys, social surveys, personal safety surveys, and the Israel households (long term) surveys; administrative files of data on crime and violence; data from the Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute’s population surveys on the level of service and health care system performance; data regarding the psychometric and the Yael (Hebrew proficiency) test examinees; data from the mental health surveys of the Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute and Clalit Health Services during the Israel-Hamas war; and data regarding evacuees from the “Emun” system of the National Digital Agency.
