Research analyst, Children, Youth and Young Adults Team, Family Group, the Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute (MJB), Israel’s leading center for applied social research.
Ortal Bar has worked at MJB since 2022. Her primary research areas are child abuse and neglect, girls and young women in situations of risk, poverty, and social exclusion and promotion of solutions and services for families with children and youth at risk.
Ortal worked for several years as a social worker in a social service department and cared for girls and young women.
Ortal has a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Haifa and a master’s degree in social work from Tel Aviv University. Her dissertation deals with perceptions and meanings given by young women at risk to the definition given to them by professionals.
