Evaluation of a Pilot Program for Promoting Inclusion in Preschools

In 2021, at the request of the Pre-Elementary Education Division at the Ministry of Education and JDC-Ashalim, the Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute initiated a learning process to examine the way early childhood inclusion is implemented in preschools and provide policy makers with information to help them develop a pilot program to enhance early childhood inclusion.  (To read a summary of the report press here.)

In 2022, the Ministry of Education and JDC-Ashalim decided to implement a pilot program to advance inclusion in preschools in four cities (Abu Snan, Ofakim, Iksal and Kiryat Yam). The inclusion program operated differently in each of the locations. At the end of the year (in August 2023), a survey was carried out among the preschool teachers who participated in the program. The survey focused on the main aspects of the program, which were implemented in all four cities. The findings indicated that most of the teachers wanted the inclusion program to continue.

The report (in Hebrew) describes the programs which were implemented during the pilot year, the survey findings, and insights and strategies for the continued implementation of inclusion programs in preschools.
