This book is dedicated to the memory of Prof. Revital Gross, who passed away in June 2011. Revital was a leading health services and health policy researcher whose work profoundly influenced the provision of health care in Israel and was also widely acclaimed internationally. Revital was a senior researcher at the Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute’s Smokler Center for Health Policy Research and an associate professor at Bar Ilan University’s Louis and Gabi Weisfeld School of Social Work and Department of Management.
This volume consists of 21 peer-reviewed articles by Revital and many colleagues that were published in leading journals; they were carefully selected from among Revital’s much larger body of published work. The articles fall into four main groupings, reflecting four of Revital’s main fields of interest:
-
Health care reform
-
Primary care
-
Women’s health
-
Psychosocial factors, health and well-being.
Eminent scholars from Israel and abroad have contributed prefaces and afterwords discussing the significance and impact of each group of articles.
The volume promises to be an important resource for policymakers, scholars, and students in Israel and abroad. For Revital’s family, friends and colleagues it also serves as a fitting way to honor and remember the many outstanding professional contributions made by Revital over the course of her remarkably productive career.
The book was published as a joint venture by Revital’s family, the Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute, the Louis and Gabi Weisfeld School of Social Work at Bar Ilan University and the Department of Management at Bar Ilan University. The articles in this book were reprinted with the kind permission of the publishers.
